PHP Remove Backslash From String

PHP stripslashes() function

PHP stripslashes() function removes all the backslashes from given string.

In this example, stripslashes() function is used to remove the backslash from string, take a look at the code given below.

$string = "How\To\Code\School.com";
$newString = stripslashes($string);
echo $newString;
?>

PHP str_replace() function

PHP str_replace() function replaces given characters or a string with other string or characters.

In the second example str_replace() function is used to remove the Backslash from string.


<?php
$string = "How\To\Code\School.com";
$newString = str_replace('\\', '', $string);
echo $newString;
?>

In above code of PHP, all backslashes are removed from everywhere in the string.

PHP preg_replace() function

PHP preg_replace() Function is used to perform a regular expression search, it is also used to replace one pattern of string with another string.

In third example we have used preg_replace() function to remove the Backslash from the string.

$string = "How\To\Code\School.com";
$newString = preg_replace('/\\\\/i', '', $string);
echo $newString;
?>

In above code of PHP, all backslashes are removed from string with help of preg_replace().

"/\\\\/i" is pattern input that we have used in preg_replace() to look for backslashes in our string.

Note that backslashes in string are required to be escaped for preg_replace(). That is why we used \\\\ instead of \.

The second parameter '' is our replacement parameter, which is basically nothing or null.

Third parameter is our main string, so this code will easily remove one or more backslashes from main string.
