In this tutorial we will learn how to Toggle Show and Hide state of any element on click with jQuery. jQuery toggleClass() method and click() method can be used along with simple CSS to toggle show and hide class of a tag.

jQuery toggleClass() method
jQuery toggleClass() method toggles between two classes by alternatively adding and removing them.
In this example toggleClass() method will remove the CSS class named show and at the same time it will add the class hide.
On next click class named hide will be removed and class with name show will be added.
jQuery click() method
jQuery click() method triggers the click event or it attaches the function execution with the click event of HTML element.
In this example click() method is used to execute a function which contains this toggle method.

HTML Code is given below, in this code we have a button tag with id and a main div.
CSS code is used to define two different classes named show and hide. We will add and remove these classes to show and hide the div or to toggle it's display property.

Inside this function toggleClass method is used to toggle the show and hide classes of main div.
